01 Information We Collect

We collect information you provide, including your name, email address, phone number, date of birth, gender, username, profile photos, biography, travel preferences, social handles, trips, journal entries, community posts, reports, and messages. If you choose identity verification, we also collect your selected identity-document image and verification selfie. We collect your account ID, notification preferences, app interactions, device platform, push-notification token, subscription status, and, with your permission, precise foreground location and trip destinations.

If you use Help shape Wanderio, we store your suggestion title, description, account ID, submission time and request status to review product ideas and show your request history. These requests are private to you and the Wanderio team, not a public discussion board. Feature requests are removed when your account is deleted. Please do not include passwords, identity documents or other sensitive information in a suggestion.

02 How We Use Your Information

We use this information to authenticate and operate your account, enforce Wanderio's 18+ requirement, create and recommend travel matches, show nearby travelers and trips, provide maps, weather, chat, groups, journals and notifications, process subscriptions, perform identity verification, prevent abuse, respond to safety reports, moderate text, and improve app reliability. We do not sell personal data or use it for cross-company advertising tracking.

03 Location and Device Permissions

Foreground location is used only after you grant permission, for nearby discovery, maps, trip context, journal location and weather. Camera and photo-library access is used when you choose to upload profile, trip, journal, chat or verification images. Notifications are used only after permission is granted. You can change these permissions in your device settings.

04 Service Providers

Wanderio uses Supabase for authentication, database, file storage and server functions; Apple and Google for sign-in; Apple MapKit and Mapbox for maps; Open-Meteo for weather; Firebase Cloud Messaging for push delivery; Apple and RevenueCat for subscription and entitlement management; and Anthropic for limited AI features and safety classification of message text. These providers process only the information needed to perform their services under their own privacy terms.

05 Sharing and Visibility

Your profile, username, profile photo, travel preferences, verification status, public trips and community content may be visible to other Wanderio users. Messages are visible to their participants. Shared-profile links display the profile information you make available through Wanderio. We disclose data to service providers described above and when required by law, to protect users, or to investigate abuse. We do not disclose verification documents to other users.

06 Storage, Security and Retention

Data is protected in transit and stored with access controls appropriate to its purpose. Verification documents are kept in private storage and used only for identity verification and safety. We retain account information while your account is active and as needed to provide the service, address security incidents, resolve disputes and meet legal obligations. No system is completely secure, but we use technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect your information.

07 Account Deletion and Your Choices

You can update your profile and notification preferences in the app, revoke device permissions in system settings, and permanently delete your account from Settings. Account deletion removes your Wanderio account and associated app data, including stored user files, subject to limited retention where required by law or needed for security and fraud prevention. You may also request access, correction or deletion by contacting us.

08 AI and Safety Moderation

Selected profile or matching context may be sent to Anthropic to generate optional AI-assisted text. Message text may also be processed for safety classification so Wanderio can detect and respond to harmful content. We do not use private messages to train Wanderio models. Automated signals support safety workflows and do not replace a user's ability to report or block another person.

09 International Processing

Wanderio and its service providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

10 Children’s Privacy and Changes

Wanderio is intended only for people aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. We may update this policy as the service changes and will post the new date here; material changes may also be communicated in the app or by email.
